backstage

So I haven't written in like a week which is nuts but I just haven't felt like it. But this weekend was pretty fun--beginning with another 1993 house photo with Zach on Friday--here is a behind the scenes picture that is just so pretty. For some reason my weekend featured Wes prominently--I saw him like all three days which was fine with me because he rules! I also stopped by the pride parade which was just not doing it for me--but twirling flags and psychedelic outfits are always welcome!! Then on my way to a bbq Sunday night I saw this rad hood ornament. DO IT '08!!!

My friend Alexis gave me this awesome tool--it is for scraping your ears (i know--gross) but also awesome (feels great!). I think it is from Shanghai. The best part is it is shaped like a nude woman. There is nothing hotter than a nude woman covered in earwax. Uh!

Radical Blog '08

Love this artist Shinro Ohtake...Whilst googling him I found THIS RADICAL BLOG. So friggin positive! It reminded me of one of my fave snacks from the past Homegirls Potato Chips."No Ring, No Thing!"

Ruth Ellis

This woman is so rad. Just saw a documentary about her on PBS. Here is some info about her.

Small House

There was a small house at the base of the Hancock Building. I think it was for American Girl Dolls (ew!)--but isn't it so cute!?

OHIO HOUSE

The Ohio House is a motel near my work. It is like a motel you would see on the side of a highway but it is in the middle of the city. I go to the coffee shop in front at lunch to get milkshakes all the time. They are awesome--but what is more awesome is the signs in the coffee shop which by the way has a beefy Juggalo for a chef. Here's a taste:

Sign Blog! (Museum Edition)

OMG I actually went to Navy Pier today with Adam who is down for anything (love him!) and we went to the stained glass museum where I matched one of the windows--Wooooo!! There was also a historical time line of Chicago on the wall with a 100 year gap which was explained like this: HA HA!! Then we walked through a door and found ourselves in the "Chicago Drug Prevention Museum"--I don't know if that is what it is called but it was like walking through a D.A.R.E. class. There was a huge wall of photos of people who died of drug overdoses--poor quality blown up photos of teenagers who OD'd on ecstasy along with press photos of John Belushi and Jimi Hendrix (duh!). The exhibit was mostly all rad gadgets from the '70s that police used to catch the bad guys including a police CORVETTE!

So I have a little time off and I have been enjoying this bookGoing to the waveless beach and watching people walk around in their jeans and t-shirts in the nasty water.
And browsing TJ Maxx's delightful displays.Jealous?

Animal Parts

It's funny when cartoon animals have totally unrealistic body parts AND imitate humans. This little guy likes to relax like Lebowski.

We drove up to the Getty Center which is Ah-maz-ing, large and super moneyed. There was a show called "California Video" which felt like school again. here is Chris Burden in "Big Wrench". Lookin' good Chris. Went to LACMA last week and saw the exhibit Phantom Sightings. This is a detail of the "Barrio of Earthly Delights" which is Hieronymus Bosch mixed with a Homies poster. Yes!!

Sign Blog! Los Angeles Edition

There were so many awesome hand-painted signs in LA that I want to go back just to take pictures of them. Here is a nice graphic one. More to come when I upload them from Ross' camera.

LA...Ahhhhhhhhhh

So nice. Saw a lot-- Thanks so much to Dali, Chris, Elan and Amber. So much love and I even met a dog I liked named Lizzie--what a doll! Downtown is still my favorite part--And the beach where we saw dolphins (!) and the mountains which are all around.
