Sometimes work is fun. Like when I can leave the studio and go to the Merch Mart with Shannon and do some D.F.M. (more on that later)
Here is some of the seriously wack shit we saw on our way to peruse the faux shrubbery.
I seriously want this. Raor!!

When I was 8 my family went on a trip to Europe. We went with another family who had a boy my age named Jeremy. We travelled around in a van and me and Jeremy, his little brother and my little brother used a tiny tape recorder to make a radio show. I would read the news and weather and he would play the "DJ" and sing his own version of songs like “you have to fight for the right to party...” etc. I had never heard these songs so when it was my turn to sing the song I sang my favorite TV jingle about my favorite cereal, FRUIT ISLANDS CEREAL.
Yum, it was so good. It tasted like larger air puffed Fruity Pebbles and was only on the market for less than a year. What! Do you remember it? The lyrics went like this: "New Fruit Islands Cereal! A Yumma Yumma..." etc. The character singing them was a Hawaiian looking islander with an outfit made of palm fronds and fruit with a lei around his neck. His name was King Ayumayuma.

Today was fun...did a photo shoot with Kiyomi. Everyone was just so nice as they always are in Chicago. What up with that--anyway cool part was Myong was there who I had not seen since I first moved here. She was the set designer. Nice. Here are some pics. The clothes were monochromatic--these are the red and yellow girls. There were also black, purple and white. Thought I was gonna be sick to day so it was good to get out and work instead of staying home all day...(only 5 more days till March!! YESSS!!)

Yo dawg. I've been on the couch for many days. Well I went to work for a little today and yesterday i got a really painful filling in the front of my mouth--and went out to a pretty lame dance night where the people on the dance floor had forgotten to take a shower. So I'm kind of exaggerating. Anyway "Hi from the couch!"
Sunday I watched the entire first season of 30 Rock. I friggin love Tracy Morgan. Everything he says is funny. Thank god!

Next to my house there is a salon and the name of it is "Salon Danny". Danny is written really big and next to it are these clip art pictures of a sketchly drawn woman and the Terminator. The best part is Danny himself who is a short stalky Mexican man with a BLOND version of Donny Osmond's hair in 1976. (Shhh! I think he's gay!)

A couple of weeks ago Brittany and I happened upon the awesomest dollar$tore right on my street. Brittany go some sweet pot leaf earrings and beaded moccs and I got a leather holster (police style) and a $5 crimper left over from the 80s. It it called "Sizzle" and is hot pink, works great and makes me look good. Well I think so...

So when I was in third grade we had an assignment based on the life of Jose Conseco. The teacher let us know some very selective biographical information about Jose--he was from Cuba and loved his family very much. The teacher insinuated that he has a very private home life and did not talk to the press about how much money he sent home to his family...but somehow my teacher knew that he had bought his mother a house. So anyway the assignment was to write a list of 10 public things and 10 private things out on a piece of paper. The teacher assured us that she alone would read the private side of the paper (they were lined sheets folded length wise). As an example, the teacher wrote out her own "public and private" list. I remember it vividly. In her public section she wrote things like "I live in Lynn, MA....I am married...I love my son Paul"...etc. In the private section she pretty much wrote the same thing over and over: "I worry about my son Paul when I'm driving...I worry about my son Paul when I am at work."...etc. This pissed me off. Why did I have to tell HER my secrets when hers were so lame? If the point of this writing exercise was to learn the difference between public and private, well, I knew it! And that is why I was not going to fill out the private side. I refused to complete it after writing trash like "I like spaghetti." in the public section. I was called up to her desk where she had an impressive collection of wooden apples. "You need to tell me 10 private things about yourself, Sasha." I tried to bluff and copied her secrets. "I worry about my Cabbage Patch Kids when I am at school." She stared at me...."Ok, she began, what's another one?" "Um, I kiss my hand and pretend it's a boy." (I really said this). She wrote it down. "Number 3?" I told her I couldn't think of anything else...even though a million REAL secrets were right on the tip of my tongue.
I remember her marking a check minus on the paper in red marker.

Ross and I went all the way to Jefferson Park today so we could check out "American Scientific Surplus".There was lots of stuff like bottles and beakers and charts and maps,
But there were also things like this SKULL!
The best part was the descriptions written below the product bins...two of my favorites among many many funny ones are below...Here are TWO identical bins--one says "tacky...sorta tacky" the other says "classy....real classy." !!

Can I just say the UIC college of dentistry is amazo+
here I am getting a stainless steel temporary tooth to match my gold one.
Everything is so inexpensive and I get my very own student dentist that I can see as often as I want. At the end of my appointment I noticed these creepy handouts on the front desk. They look like a punk zine but are just some notes from a class.

My feet are wet. You? I kind of wish I was wearing those huge raver platform foam sneakers. Not only do I secretly like them, but I would be able to walk around town high and dry. Except I would prolly have a broken ankle. And be like 6 ft 9. Oh wait that sounds awesome.

This artist is AMAZING! The piece abouve is called "My Chloe's--The game Between Bloods". She is an Iranian-American Illustrator/Painter. I saw her work in Alarm magazine, which mostly sucks but had a whole article on her featuring this picture--
Check her out on the Heather Marx website!!!
