Sign Blog--a-riffic!

Yo you remember those gross commercials for instant Quaker oatmeal from the late 80s? They had a song...it went "Sniff sniff sniff...Sniff-a-riffic! Instant Quaker Oatmeal" Whaaa?

I am obsessed with the banned Calvin Klein ads (click here for youtube link). I never saw them when they came out...I remember the print ads being banned, but the TVs spots must have been pulled before they went on the air. They male voice is super creepy. Love it. And love the "moshing". Adorable.

Funk and Flash

Last year around this time I attempted to sell a lot of books to this old hippy bookstore in Gloucester Mass. The guy totally ripped me off but I was desperate to unload them so..I took the hundred bucks he gave me and took this amazing book from his store titled NATIVE FUNK AND FLASH. This book is amazing. Here is another link to some images--sorry my scanner is weak, but you get the idea. This publication is very of it's time and has some hilarious written bits and insane characters who make beautiful and freaky artwork. Check it!

P.M.A. '08

Inspiration! Here is a great scan from the Russian Flowers Book that Mark gave me last year. A photo of excited hands (non-Hitler related) by Jon and an awesome logo from the best band ever. Let's keep the PMA through the shitty cold weather!!

Went to the Boston ICA with my parents last weekend. The Tara Donovan exhibt was really great. The images on the web are ok, but her sculptures and installations really need to be seen in person--check them out if they come to your town's contemporary art museum.

Favorite Store

Dollar-a-Pound at the Garment District in Cambridge has always been my favorite store. Anna and I went there last Saturday. So fun!

Style Blog--what do YOU think?

About these gloves...
they have leather covered jewel-shaped decorations that are lovely in person, but do they look like a...disease?

Don't hide behind those sunglasses!

This is one of my favorite freaky murals. What is up with the man, what is up with the girl, whaaahhhh is going on with their hands! Everything is WRONG.

A great gift for the holidays!!

I don't really know what to say about the cover of this book--the whole concept is offensive. There is also a "new moms" porno book. Upsetting.

Setting it up 08

I'm pretty into this table setting I designed with my step-mom. I call it "Defiant Spring".

Well...Hello, Miss Wonderful!

Just went to the Peabody-Essex Museum which is ok...there was a lot of freaky ceramics like this pair of dogs(?) etc. There was also an photo exhibit about Moko the Maori traditional tattoos which can be seen here in this pic of a woman from the 1880s and in one of the photos from the show. Amazing!!

Lonely Bread

My favorite San-x charicter by far. PLease read the story of Burned Bun. They are the outsiders and the unwanted. They belong on the Island of Misfit Toys.

Best Tag Ever

So Tyrone found "Dikdeth" which was pretty awesome. But I think "Pizza Pie" takes the a-hem...cake.

I love the casual script style font that is chosen to write "Dimples". Adorable.

Tan Me

So remember Sarah Palin? Yeah neither do I. Well I thought it was SO FUNNY that she owned a tanning bed. What a cracker. All these "tanning professionals" were predicting a surge in the market if she was elected. But for real I think I might do the same thing if I lived in Alaska. It is how I get through the winter here...I can't believe it has already begun. Brrr!

Art/ Not Art

My boy Dan is in town for the SOFA show which was really crazy and big. He got some funny press which asks our favorite question: what is art anyway? One of the artists I really liked was Wendy Walgate who's ceramics are to the right--AND lots of these amazing moccasins--BEADWORK 08!!
